Description

SUMMER HOLIDAY BREAK – any custom made products ordered between 13-20 Jan will be dispatched 21 Jan. If your order contains a custom product, your whole order will be held and shipped on 21 Jan 2026

A custom, reusable screen made from your digital artwork.

Your image is thermally transferred to the plastic mesh, which is a long lasting reusable silk screen ready for your printing projects.

The mesh can be stretched on to a Riso Frame – Half, a plastic frame with double sided tape, or used without a frame. This product is for the customised mesh only, the plastic frame is an optional extra that needs to be ordered seperately.

Riso’s are a great simple, cost effective way to screen print at home.

They are made from highly versatile 120 grade mesh which is suitable for solids, shading and fine lines onto almost all materials and substrates, t-shirts, paper, ceramics, silk, cotton and polyester materials, canvas.

When using solvent based ink, test suitability or ink and screen cleaner beforehand.

Your mesh screen will measure approximately 28.5 x 24 cm, with your image in the centre. Your image can be a maximum of 21 x15 cm.

DESIGN GUIDELINES

  • clear black and white images work best, preferably with no grey scale
    • if your artwork has grey areas lighter shades may disappear from your screen
    • artwork must be black and white (not colour)
  • all black areas on your design will be the ‘holes’ in your screen that will let your choice of coloured ink through during printing
  • all white areas on your design will block the ink from coming through the screen

WHAT ARE THE SCREENS LIKE?

The screens are a thin, durable plastic mesh. your design is permanently imprinted with thermal technology on to the screen. You can wash and reuse your screen many times. screen frames can be purchased separately if you wish to stretch your mesh on to a frame, they can also be used directly on to your print surface with no frame.

WHAT CAN I PRINT ON?

Riso screens are perfect for printing on to tee shirts, tote bags, paper and much more.

WHAT CAN I PRINT WITH?

Screens are ideal to use with our Screen printing ink, but can be used with a wide variety of paints and inks. If the paint/ink you want to use is not water based, please test your clean up solvent with the mesh as it may attack the screen.

CAN MY PRINT BE MULTIPLE COLOURS?

One colour prints are always easier, but multi coloured prints are possible. Multiple coloured prints are made with one colour per screen, layering a number of prints on top of each other. You may need extra equipment for accurately aligning your prints (such as a printing jig). You can also creatively get multiple colours on to prints in other ways – check out some inspiration at www.thebutchershop.au/riso

WHICH IS THE RIGHT SIDE?

If you can’t tell by looking at your design, feel both Sides of the mesh – the smooth side is aways touching the printing surface (ie tee shirt) and the rough side is the side you will put your ink on.

If attaching your screen to a Riso Frame, attach the shiny side to the frame. Your mesh will sit on top of the frame and your printing surface (ie tee shirt) will touch the bottom of the frame leaving a small gap between the print surface and mesh.

CARING FOR YOUR SCREEN

  • remove excess ink before placing under running water (or using cleaners) to dissolve ink
  • wipe on top (rough side) of mesh with a soft cloth
  • do not wipe/rub film/smooth side
  • do not use hot water or high pressure when cleaning
  • if using solvents test on screen material first

Screens will last many years in storage where suitable conditions are provided

  • store away from humidity, in a cool place out of direct sunlight
  • mesh can be stored stretched on a frame or stored rolled with smooth side outwards
